Today, we celebrate the girl child. The theme for this year’s celebration is
With Her: A Skilled GirlForce
Since 2014, we have been providing Entrepreneurial Leadership Training (ELT) to young people between the ages of 13 and 19. Over 65% of our students are girls.
We ensure that our female scholars enter the job market with the skills that will enable them to thrive and create a better world. We also place an enormous focus on the most pressing needs and opportunities for girls to attain skills for employability.
Our spotlight today is on two of our female alumni;
Civian Massa, a young girl who comes from a rural area in Cameroon called Ndu. Through our program, Civian was one of the 50 young people selected to join the inaugural class of the Yale Young Africa’s scholars program and she won a full scholarship to study Electrical Engineering at the African Leadership University in Mauritius
Joyce Pekwalekeh, a young woman from Bamenda, Cameroon used the ELT she received at the Academy to start her catering business Green Delights Catering. Joyce now provides employment opportunities for three other young people and through the profits from her business, covered the cost of her university education. She is a graduate of the National Polytechnic in Bamenda.
