Leadership
We train students aged 15-18 across secondary schools through mentor fellows who are university students and graduates. Scholars begin the program in the fifth year of secondary school (first year of high school at approximately age 15) and participate for five semesters. At Jumpstart Academy, we don’t just teach scholars about leadership and entrepreneurship. We show them how to become leaders and entrepreneurs through Jumpstart Academy clubs, where we encourage a practical application of the entrepreneurial and leadership skills learned. They work together to come up with possible solutions to the problems they identified. Some club meetings involve going out into the community to where the problems are so that the scholars get to see firsthand the problem which allows for more informed discussions, brainstorming, and prototyping.
