Massa Civian
Government Bilingual High School Ndu, Bamenda
Civian , a former student at the Government Bilingual High School Ndu, was part of the inaugural class. After a year of training at the Academy, Civian started a radio program in her communnity to create awareness on issues like malaria and HIV/AIDS. Civian also became one of the 50 young selected to join the inaugural class of the Yale Young Africa's Scholars profram in 2014. She also won a scholarship and joined the inaugural class of the African Leadership University(ALU) in Mauritius. She is currently in her third year at ALU and she's studying towards a BSc in Electrical Engineering . Civian also recently set up a non-profit organization in Cameroon which empowers orphans and vulnerable children in Cameroon. She has completed internships with JumpStart Academy Africa, GiftedMom and Kamerpad.
Edwin Tumi
Government Bilingual High School Ndu
Edwin was part of our Inaugural class. As a student at the Government Bilingual High School Ndu, it was challenging for his family to cover the cost of high school education. Faced with this challenge, Edwin decided to use the Entrepreneurial leadership training he received at JumpStart Academy Africa to start a poultry farm. He carried on fundraising activities to raise the capital he needed to get started and was able to grow it by bootstrapping the business. Edwin used the profits from his business to pay for his high school education and was able to successfully run a fully operational poultry farm whilst studying for his A-Level Examination. Edwin was recruited by Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services to be trained as a Nursing Auxillary. He hopes to be a medical doctor in the future and sees this opportunity as a stepping stone for him to begin his career.
Jude Nwasir Bonglav
Government Bilingual High School Downtown Bamenda
Jude Nwasir was part of our inaugural class based on his demonstrated passion for entrepreneurship, Leadership and social change. As a student at the academy, he received awards for Academic Excellence and Leadership. He also set up a pottery workshop where he made paintings and carvings. the income he has earned till date from the sale of his carvings has enabled him to cover the cost of his university education. Jude is currently in his third year of studies at the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, at the University of Bamenda. Jude is training to become a Financial Analyst and he undertook an internship with the Azire Credit Union, a financial institution in Bamenda.
Franklin Meh Kum
Government Bilingual High School Downtown, Bamenda
A student from our inaugural class, Franklin's life story has been that of overcoming obstacles and challenges. He is a risk taker and he loves breaking new grounds. As a JAA scholar, Franklin received awards for Academic Excellence and Leadership. Franklin currently a second-year student at ENSET at the University of Bamenda, where he is training to become a teacher. Franklin is a passionate and aspiring educator who understands the value of Entrepreneurial Leadership. Franklin currently works as a Mentor Fellow at JumpStart Academy Africa, where he teaches students at CCAST Bambili.
Edna Mesue
Government Bilingual High School Muea
She is a JumpStart Academy Alumnus from the inaugural class. Edna currently works as a Mentor Fellow at JumpStart Academy Arcia, mentorinf students at her former school, Government Bilingual High School Muea. An artist at heart, Edna recently won the Award for "Best Writer" in a competition organized by the Regional Delegation of Arts and Culture for the South West Region.
Joyce Pekwalekeh
Government Bilingual High School Downtown, Bamenda
Joyce Pekwlekeh, a JumpStart Academy Africa alumnus from Government Bilingual High School Downtown Bamenda, used the Entrepreneurial Leadership training she received at the academy to transform her passion into profit. She started a business called Green Delights Catering which specialises in fresh Salads. Joyce now provides employment opportunities for three other young people. With the help of the profit she generates from her business, she is able to cover the cost of her education at the University of Bamenda.
